Why are people stealing dogs of certain kinds when they see them on porches, in backyards, or in cars? The most commonly stolen dog breeds mirror those that are now trending in popularity across the country. 

It's no surprise that the Siberian husky, with its exquisite good looks and stunning eyes, is the tenth most common dog breed to be stolen as a puppy, since it ranks tenth on the list of dog breeds.

Poodles are consistently among the AKC's top 10 most popular dog breeds, and theft rates tend to be higher for highly sought-after canine species. Poodles are highly sought after due to the low allergen production of their hair rather than fur coats.

On the list of the most popular dog breeds published by the AKC for the year 2020, it should come as no surprise that the Labrador retriever is ranked first. After all, if there were best of the year awards for dog breeds.
